2. I agree. That's why I did it. The 'you should know' response is very much a tactic used by identity politics people who haven't read enough of what they're purporting to be educating the rest of us on. You may have missed the sardonic tone underpinning the response. :o)

3. Correct. Nobody should ever be teaching anybody anything, that implies knowledge is a fixed thing to be handed down from one person (who has all the answers) to another person (who is clueless). Knowledge should be transactional, like a relationship in which both people learn. Generally, the higher up in a knowledge system you go, the less inclined you are to teach someone and more inclined you are to say 'I don't know but here's what I think'

In short, what I'm objecting to with this particular commenter is the following.

1. She is trying to teach me something about race but simultaneously is a) openly white and b) doesn't know my race.

2. I have already made my opinions on the irrelevance of race apparent, but she continues to insist I must learn something.

3. If I am white, then I am required to be quiet and acquiesce to her knowledge because I have something to learn

4. I may be a minority race. If I am a minority race then she (by her own admission) has nothing to teach me - and she instead must learn from me and must apologise if she has offended me (I have picked some arbitrary offence out of my ass and am still waiting for an apology)

5. I don't play by those black vs white rules because I think those rules are stupid and counter productive to ending racism.

6. I think that because skin colour is not related to intelligence or insight and you cannot end the problem of racism by constantly referencing skin colour. (here's me writing about that sort of thing 3 years ago) https://medium.com/p/397dcb896d5b

7. Perhaps that makes me racist.

8. You'd have to know my skin colour to decide.

9. See 3 and 4. And then my pinned story about being a Penguin https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/the-person-behind-the-penguin-2cac54359a9b

10. I've enjoyed listing things.

And no, I'm not a hypocrite - but I'm more than happy to discuss any of this further if you disagree, that way we can both teach ourselves something new as a result of each other. That way you can work out your own moral positioning about race in discussion rather than have it didactically framed for you by some passing white woman who loves a virtue signal. ;o)
