Aaaah, I see.... argument wise you've got your cake and can eat it too. War and violence is a man problem, rape and violence is a man problem, men being conscripted is a man problem - and women aren't complicit in this getting men conscripted and even if they were, it would still be a mans problem.
Specifically on this issue, both women and men are upholding the harmful norm. There's just less appetite to instigate change than in other areas of society. Still a feminist issue.
I shall go and read Elle's article as it hasn't been thrown at me yet - she and I profoundly disagree on a lot of things, but over the last few years we have managed to carve out a healthy fondness for each other based on the debate skills and biases we both have and recognise.
On that note, I've enjoyed this back and forth; I suspect we'll go round in circles from this point on, as is often the case- but it's been interesting and enjoyable debating with you. Not many people can go this many comments deep and still bring new evidence.
