Absolutely.... because then we'd be able to see the slippery narcissistic twat for what he was.... What I wouldn't do is set up a situation where the means of communication is directly linked to the people in power.... That's where social media is heading and such a thought is terrifying.... you're presuming the next Hitler will come in an obvious guise of right-wing militarism.... I think that may be the case, I think it's just as likely to come from an angry progressive movement.

People aren't gassed because Nazis say 'we should gas more people' - people are gassed because the right to reply to the Nazis was handed away too easily and without much of a fight. Everyone is convinced they're the good guys - and that's why we can't trust anyone to shut down freedom of speech on our watch.

Democracy is messy... it's basically arguing your way to a better world. That makes it shit and slow moving, frustratingly slow for some groups, but infinitely better than an autocratic regime from either the right or the left. Freedom of speech is what underpins it. Without that, we're going to struggle.
