Acknowledge that some grievances are legitimate. Poor people are getting poorer and wealthy people are getting wealthier. If you decide to end your campaign on a stage with wealthy millionaires of all skin colours whilst you campaign that skin colour is the main indicator of oppression, then you're going to get your ass handed to you on an electoral plate by a large majority of disenfranchised poor white folks. I've been saying that for years - and nobody bothered to listen.
Trump plays identity politics better than the left - he did it by appealing to base 'us vs them' and the left had no answer for it - well, they did. His name was Bernie Sanders, but they elected not to run him in 2016 in favour of pushing for an inclusive identity candidate they felt was sure to win with an electorate. The electorate said 'no'.
Harris didn't run a bad campaign, Trump just ran a better one - and he's beaten them at their own game by appealing to whichever aspect of specific identity the voters would choose - whether that's 'work ethic', 'conservatism', 'racism' or 'I'm not as mad as these people with their 870 genders' - he knows how to push buttons. The left needs a better plan and it needs one soon.
