Activists are just politicians no one voted for is a mic drop line. I love that.

I think your therapist might be right that there's a deeply nihilistic side to your arguing. And you're right, the earth has done many different things over the last few billion years. There has been every type of climate in every place. Hell, in my own country the Thames used to freeze over every winter for the winter fair. We have paintings of people ice-skating upon it from the 1600s.

But I think it's remiss not to worry about the correlation. As you've pointed out, correlation doesn't always mean causation and we can't conclusively prove anything one way or the other. But that's akin to standing and looking down the wrong end of a gun and saying 'I wonder if the trigger makes the bullet go?' is it correlation or causation- sometimes it doesn't, because the safety is on, and sometimes the question is redundant because you've got a hole in your face and your brains have been sprayed across the opposite wall. It depends on the length of time you've got for your investigation. I would suggest there's at least some benefit in contingency planning at this stage incase the safety is off. Sure, you can live with a bullet hole in your face, and humans can live in extreme conditions - but that isn't the same as a decent quality of life and face free from a gaping wound.

Luckily we have Vlad-Poo to test the limits of your nihilism pretty soon. I'm not confident we're not going to be raining fireballs at each other by Christmas. It's been a decent fifty year European peace (Bosnia excluded) we gave it our best shot!

Politicians are just people voted in because they aren't passionate about anything enough to be an activist. :o)
