Actually I agree. The wealthy ruling class do this - and they do it by primarily pointing at the progressives. There aren't very many of the ruling elite, but there are plenty of willing progressives who will move heaven and earth to take unreasonable positions. That's why you end up with Marxists taking Netflix deals and having property portfolios. The biggest boon to the right ruling class has been the identity movement.

Instead of concentrating minds on what unites poor black people, poor white folks, poor asians, they have created a system which plays entirely into the victim mentality of middle-class people. Identity politics was a game started by the right as a trap into which progressives of every hue have fallen into. Now, instead of thinking collectively, they vote in small niche interest groups that spend most of their time attacking each other with complicated bullshit terminology.

And the right says..... "look at that clusterfuck of loonies, aren't you glad you have us?" and helps itself to another slice of the financial pie.
