And this is where I think you'll see the death of the Labour Party. What many people don't seem to understand is that standing up for the rights of any minority group is a right wing model. The political left has ceased to be united in its mandate towards socialism and economic empowerment and has instead embraced a bunch of divergent groups all with their own agenda. That's fine, but that isn't how you enact change, that's how you enact chaos. The left is now a swarming mess of identity groups all calling foul on each other. It's happening even within the LGBTQ+ community itself - and in many ways the damage is self inflicted.
The current generation of 'thinkers' were all funnelled off to Universities as a result of Blair's Education Education Education reforms. Universities were predominantly a place for the wealthy, now they're a place for the children of champagne socialists. And so we have a generation of young activists who don't understand what economic disadvantage is, whose entire roadmap of oppression has come straight out of living in the most liberal tolerant society in the world - walking around like everyone else is a paid up member of the Stasi. Should anyone dissent, they are labelled as an 'ist' or a 'phobic' - with no attempt to uncover why they may think the things they do. People are simply labelled 'bigots' and 'wasting my time' - and the whole discussion is moved to the back of the room.
And here's the thing, social tolerance comes from people having enough money, time, socially subsidised things to do, help with health, help with childcare and not falling into a 'dog-eat-dog' world where 'the other' is the bad guy because he/she or they might take everything from you. Centre left policies were working, things were getting better for LGBTQ+ people until this iteration of non-tolerant woke arrived. Then Labour lost the north. Soon they will lose the next general election.
Then it'll become a selection of fringe minority group parties who can't work together trying to enact change on a right wing juggernaut. You need not to just look at the last 3 decades, you need to go back to what the Labour Party has represented from the beginning - economic socialism.
