Another excellent article; penguins, on the whole, do not attempt suicide and I never have - but penguins often work with people who try and occasionally people who succeed. Your point about suicide paradox is interesting and I’ve sat through many professional meetings when the behaviour of teens (girls usually) is explained away as a ‘cry for help’ without really addressing any of the underlying concerns about said cry. And boys cries for help aren’t normally recognised as such. Not enough work goes into understanding the nature of human beings resting at the edge of their psychological tolerance and there’s often too much in the way of retrospective regret. Great article.
