Another great argument - I think I'd have to be fine with people pulling their children out of school for whatever reason they wanted. Business executives with vaginas, racist maths, the wrong type of socks. I don't have to agree, but their rights to remove their children are fine with me.

Of course, that comes with an inherent problem. If everyone else is learning the lessons of pluralism, you put your child at a disadvantage. By all means teach them non-racist maths, but if they emerge into a pluralistic workplace and they haven't got the skillset employers require - they're going to be pretty pissed off at Mum and Dad.

I've taught many homeschooled kids over the years - many of them very intelligent and many of them socially disadvantaged. There are huge advantages to pluralism and pluralistic education that aren't anything to do with the curriculum itself. Tolerance and compassion is built in - and that's sort of the point. James Finn can't mandate tolerance via intolerance without setting up a completely totalitarian society - one he believes is a utopia but will be a subjective dystopia for others.

Thats's the fun of pluralism right there :o)
