As a general rule if someone says ‘it’s not my job to educate you’ - I presume they’re now out of their depth in the debate we’re having and have nothing left to add. I used to get ‘I can’t believe you haven’t read X book and until you familiarise yourself with X theory there’s no point talking to you’ a lot…. Less so these days. Often I’d ask for a quick précis of the book and be met with stony silence, people come in guns blazing before they realise they’re holding an intellectual water pistol and forgot to order the air strike of philosophical competence.
