Bang on. I think the sad thing about the rise of the progressive left is that it's having the opposite effect to the one it intends. As a general rule society moves more towards tolerance and liberalism - Conservatives included. Every younger generation rebels in some way against the one above it and usually has a pitched battle - but from that battle emerges music, books, TV shows and complexity. It's very easy to be right-wing and anti LGBTQ+ in a world where 'nobody' is gay, much harder in a world when it's your son or daughter.

That gradual unfolding of complexities is how the world changes person by person. Not in binaries but in little worlds making sense. As a result the emergent property is a society which begins oscilating between conservatism and liberalism then skews liberal over time - right up until now. The shouting of the identity left about oppression at every turn has done little more than awaken the equal and opposite dragon and moderates are being forced to pick sides. It's very sad indeed.
