Be careful when you're sleeping, because non-consensual kissing is a thing.

If you're financially disempowered you should always look to an elder frumpy relative to bail you out.

Stockholm syndrome works a charm.

It's always appropriate to friendzone admirers who have mononyms.

When in doubt, join the army.

Change everything about your body for the man of your dreams and keep quiet afterwards.

It doesn't matter if you're a Princess, there will always be some grubby shyster who can get through your father's defences.

And I've never seen pocahontas but I'm fairly convinced she died of TB or Typhus - so it's probably 'wash your hands' or something like that.

I am of course joking, these are all great films and the stories they're based around contain a myriad of carefully cultivated messages about the reality of the world itself. They wouldn't have lasted for hundreds of years if they hadn't. The fairy tales do differ from the sanitised Disney versions, but there's wisdom in those stories if people are interested in looking for it - and I also strongly dislike the reductionist 'its all about the patriarchy silly' style nonsense that gets thrown about without much thought. Great article, very enjoyable. :o)
