Because my opinion is… I don’t have all the available information to make a judgment - and I think in those circumstances it’s unwise to make any judgment in law.
The evidence on sexuality is pretty clear cut. I don’t think the trans stuff is as clear cut, because the ramifications of a cis person being diagnosed and treated as trans are more significant than a straight person believing they are gay and then slowly coming to the conclusion they aren’t. That happens without conversion therapy, and I’m aware of at least two people in my social circle who have done this
There’s nuance between conversion therapy and open dialogue. That’s what needs to be explored and what needs to be legislated against is linguistic creep. There’s a duty of care owed to all in society and that’s a balance the dialogue seems to be missing.
