Being Brazilian is not an identity, if it were then every Brazilian would be the same. Being Brazilian is one facet of an identity, along with a billion other intersecting things. Being Brazilian doesn't tell me that much anyway, Brazilian history is a masterclass in multiculturalism. Being Brazilian means you could have heritage, customs and cultural identities from about 25 separate places that infused themselves into Brazil during the 19th and early 20th Century. I suspect the average Brazilian has a complicated relationship with race if their genealogy is explored in any great detail.

I don't feel defensive about my race, gender, sexuality etc, I just don't deem it relevant. Those things are the least interesting things about me and they play an oversized part in discussion when ideas are exchanged. You are welcome to infer my identity, but you have to stick around long enough to infer it - and the UK, like Brazil has also been an ethnic melting pot for the best part of five hundred years - no more so than in London where I do indeed live. So you might be right, I might be a cis white male, but also I might be a black gay woman, or a queer asian bisexual.... I don't care and I don't think you should either.

All arguments are filled with bias - human beings can't help that, but let's be clear.... I've been here 4 years, I've amassed 4000 followers. There are writers who write identity focussed pieces with followers far exceeding mine who have been here half or a quarter of the time. Katie Jgln and Allison Wiltz arrived long after me - and both have double perhaps treble the amount of followers. The best way to get attention is to play to a home crowd and write a popular, ideally left of centre, identity focussed piece identifying a clear villain and then write in an echo chamber. Those chambers grow very big, very profitable and very intellectually stunted.
