Cancel culture exists on both sides - and on both sides of the political divide it is equally stupid. This article is less about paedophila and more about the flaw in thinking that allows niche interest groups to generate a huge amount of social pressure by posititoning their arguments as morally good. I am always sceptical of any group of people that tries to remove the capacity of others to offer dissent, whether that comes from the political left or right.
There are a few fringe groups that are advocating for paedophile rights. Check the other comments. Counter intutiively, I don't have a problem with this - because the argument is a valid one that offers children more protection than they currently have.
And yes, the Finkelhor model, is the model I teach. Children are far more likely to be abused by members of their own family and within their social circle by people who experience external stressors rather than any significant paedophilic intent. The best way to remove these social stressors (in my opinion) is by consistently voting for socialism and adequate failsafes for the most vulnerable members of society.
I'd also argue for a society that isn't caught up with 'wokeism'. We already have enough issues with social workers doing adequate child protection work, without getting everyone riled up about whether they're being racist, sexist and having every single decision they make thrown up into the air for continuing discussion. We have a history in the UK of some people using the 'culture' defence. Doesn't fly with me and shouldn't with anyone who works in child protection.
Thanks for your comment and carrying on the discussion.
