Couldn't have been more King inspired really, it was based on a story by his son. I watched the film and found it cumbersome. King tends to be best when he's pared down to basics (like Misery), the work of Joe Hill tends to be a bit more comic book-esque and less grounded - I think it suffers for moving in that direction. There are horror elements here, but I think the dialogue was clunky, the B-plot about his Dad was plain underdeveloped, and the performances were slightly uneven across the board. It's a good premise, but I'm not convinced it's a good film. It needed another few drafts I reckon. :o)
