Debate and talking points are my thing and I appreciate you dropping by and adding your comments. White Supremacy has been particularly pernicious in the US, more so than here in Europe and I'm still struggling to understand and cognitively reconcile why that might be the case.

I have some theories that you might be able to comment on... because that's really what this article is about - I want people to lay out their stall and bring discussions to the mix so that we can have some of this out.

1. There's something about American Psychology that is averse to either meaningful change or the concept of equality itself. America is naturally more cut-throat and competitive than here in Europe and I wonder whether being a constitutional and relatively young country means that racial progress is stymied.

2. the US is really two countries, one of which is a liberal European semi-socialist state and the other is a more religious autocracy, the latter of which has never really resolved any of the feelings left over from the 1860s - and really it would be better to separate out.

3. The American economy has never really been viable. It lacks the European wealth (read colonialism) and has effect traded slavery with wage slavery/prison slavery (via the war on drugs) as a way of ensuring productivity. This systemic model of keeping poor people poor is really just a modern version of the original problem the founding fathers kicked down the timeline.

I don't have the answers, and that's why I'm interested in what you think. I'm not suggesting that the UK is a racism-free utopia, but we seem to have been a little more successful at resolving some of the systemic problems. A bigger problem here is that many people seem to believe that the UK is mini-America and take ridiculous positions on things that either aren't happening, or are ever likely to happen here. Mostly middle-class white liberals who basically piss everyone else off and seem to ensure the right wing government stays in power.

For reference, three of the applicants for our next Prime Minister to replace Boris are from Indian or Black heritage and all of them have stood on an anti-identity politics ticket. It's an own goal waiting to happen.

Always lovely to see you rock up. Always ready to hear your wisdom. :o)
