Definitely under appreciated in the world of social work - this is an interesting article with plenty of insight. I'm not a social worker, but I've trained them for the last decade or so - and this is far more prevalent than most people think. I'm not sure how society can move a discussion forward on this issue in the current climate - it's a total non-starter because the violence experienced by women at the hands of men is infinitely more observable - and getting anything like 'coercive control' in front of a judge is hard enough even with children let alone with adult men. I've not seen that many care orders made for 'emotional abuse' unless it's comorbid with other forms - it's difficult because the long term damage done by abusive narcissists when left unchecked can cause absolute devastation.
Great article. Very enjoyable. :o)
