Disney does what is expedient, not what is morally right. Whether you think a company should be allowed to fire its staff for their political views is the question at hand. Carano wasn’t fired for her political views, rather how she expressed them. It was gross misconduct….. however it sets a precedent for hypocrisy in the future. Disney doesn’t have a policy, it has a knee jerk reactionary PR team responding to the whims of ever changing public sentiment. And public sentiment is changing on wokism. This is going to cause Disney the sort of trouble it caused Elia Kazan in the 1960s. There was a middle ground position on James Gunn and Gina Carano that is….. ‘This has nothing to do with us, and we urge the people in question to resolve it themselves’ – they’ve always gone for the short term win and they’ll end up with the long term loss.
