Far and away the smartest thing the financial 1% ever did was empower the middle and economically impoverished to get into a series of pitched battles about identity. While the poor continue to get poorer, something we know drives up protectionism, prejudice and community conflict, the left rips itself apart trying to decide which one of 28 genders it wants and whether Bridgerton is racist or not.

The main arguments I have with writers on this platform is that they see race as separate from class. The black poor and the white poor have far more in common with each other than they do with the lofty semantic arguments put forward by middle class people of any skin colour. The more the left fixates on identity, the more likely it is to hand power to a right wing government and the more money is likely to stay exactly where it is.

If you're interested in that general world view, it's spelled out in more detail in this article. https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/what-we-all-lose-when-society-plays-identity-politics-397dcb896d5b
