Great article. I also thought Holden was a whiny brat when I read the book (not as a teen). I enjoyed the book but was overall a bit 'meh' about the experience of reading it. It didn't blow me away. What I found most difficult about it was nothing to do with Holden himself, but the American idioms and language used. I'm not from the US, so I don't think I can 'hear' the voice of Holden in the way that a US reader could. I also got very tired of the word crummy.

But I didn't get tired of this article. 11/10, would definitely recommend.
