Great article. I used to identify as a feminist. I don’t anymore and there’s a simple reason for this: An ideology is defined by the extremes that fall within it’s limitations. Not all left-wingers are communist, but all communists are left wing. Not all right-wing voters are neo-nazis, but all neo-nazis are right wing. Not all feminists are misandrists, but all misandrists are feminists.
There are a group of feminists who can’t separate their hatred of men from their idealogical challenging of the patriarchy. That form of social extremism is a deal breaker for most moderate men — and that’s why there are a lot less allies and male feminists than there were five years ago. We still believe in the equality you’ve outlined so well in your article, we just prefer to identify differently.
