Great article. I’m not a sports person either… and I am routinely beaten by most humans at most things regardless of their sex. I am not bothered either.
I guess it really depends on the sport when it comes to trans issues - and I’m prepared to wait for the science to catch up. When it comes to the Olympics or top level sport, we aren’t talking about those of us who waddle around in the bell curve, it’s the top athletes in every discipline and in sports that involve a direct strength or speed contest - the men will usually win.
If it was me…. And I’m not in charge here. I would alter the starting pistol for men and women based on the average fastest time of both - that would mean men and women could race together and genuinely compete in a fair way. I suspect trans-athletes would be somewhere between the two if their average could be calculated with enough accuracy.
I don’t know how they’re going to do it, but to make it fair to everyone there’s going to have to be a solution. It’s really not very fair for trans-athletes to get public trouncing for competing in sports the governing body has said they’re fine to compete in. Solutions need to be found.
In the meantime though, articles like this are excellent reading. :o)
