Have a look at the relationship between Maxine Waters and Barack Obama. Look at the attacks on voting for Bernie Sanders as a progressive candidate beginning with ‘of course you’d want a White man’ – I had that levelled at me after I informed someone I wasn’t a republican – or even an American.

The problem comes with a shift in who your target demographic is. It’s happening in the U.K too – in throwing identity ideological bones to the intellectual middle class who are all centred in the metropolitan areas you lose the rural working class. The U.K. north turned blue, people whose lives were decimated by Thatcher came out and voted for a libertarian thundercunt who basically said ‘everything wrong in your life is all the fault of foreigners, brown people and posh London types’

You might win the battle and feel good – but the result is that poor people (of all skin colours) are voting identity politics based politicians out. It’s not a viable message to enact change – not yet at least.
