Having butted my little Penguin head against Elle's for a number of years on a whole host of topics from mental health to how widespread and terrifying the Patriarchy actually is - I can say, with quite some conviction, that she isn't a delicate creature who needs protection (no matter how well intentioned) on Medium, Twitter or anywhere else.

If everyone is equal, everyone is equal. If an idea is stupid then people can and should have the right to say so. You either defend your ideas or you can't. If you can't, then getting others (or allowing them) to do so is disingenuous.
