Hey Danna, these are all great points and very interesting insights. I try not to write too much about myself in my pieces - as I take an anti-identity politics stance. This means each piece has to be vetted to ensure I don't erroneously refer to my own race, gender, sex, sexuality etc. Some of my older pieces on the platform are a little more personal - but by and large I attempt to be a little more than the penguin avatar.
The writing about the serial killer was interesting. I think in real life I'm quite highly empathetic; I've been a teacher and worked in social work for a long time - but in this piece there was none. I think I was attempting to mimic a more factual style of journalism rather than my usual opinion pieces. It was an interesting experiment and one I enjoyed.
And introspection does happen from time to time. Here's an example from the vaults. https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/whack-a-woke-weekday-the-professor-and-the-penguin-c4a8723ebb5d - but it is quite rare in my writing overall. I think I shall try and include more in the next few articles - however, once again it's difficult to reveal moments of introspection without commenting on the individual traits of the person doing the commenting - this runs counter to my online persona.
Arguments are absolutely the right place to develop critical thinking - and don't worry, I don't get offended very easily and I certainly wouldn't be offended by helpful advice. Keep arguing with me when you think I'm being unfair and join the collection of other strawberries! :o)
