Hi David, thanks for dropping by. Everything you've said also applies to the Alt-Right, but the chances of them reading this article are slim to minimal. Medium is a very left-leaning platform and between 2019 and early 2021 was essentially an echo chamber for this very particular brand of illiberal-liberalism. I am a centre-left writer who feels very ill-at-ease with the current direction of travel of politics, particularly on my own side. This article doesn't come from 'I'm right wing and you're all wrong' it comes from the left and is essentially 'they've sort of got a point.

Pluralistic ignorance, which is the main driver of conspiracy theories is covered in that article in a bit more detail. The question of implicit bias which underpins the whole cops killing innocent people is a little more psychologically involved. It isn't as simple as 'they're all prejudiced' - in many instances that prejudice is underpinned by real world experiences in high crime areas. In short, put cops into environments where crime is more racially balanced and their implicit bias is greatly reduced. The real battle should be to economically empower people out of desperation and alternative undesireable life choices. This is absolutely underpinned by systemic racism, but the current identity politics model won't solve the problem in any meaningful way.
