Hmmm. I'm dubious. You have some of the hallmarks of the ambivalent child - 'I hate you! I'm leaving!', but nobody paid enough attention so now it's 'I love you and I'm back and I've changed'.

Tbh, some of us have been on here for years just writing deep shit because we enjoyed it. We didn't sell courses, we didn't write about earnings, we didn't flounce out and flounce back again. We just were. This self-help and 'how to win at Medium' ecosystem was constructed by people like yourself and Dim Tenning - you set the blueprints and they were successful.

Until they weren't.

I think you're going to have trouble gathering an audience for deeply reflective pieces about the state of the universe and authenticity and vulnerability, because that's not what your audience expects from you - being able to have fun and be true to yourself on Medium is a big ask. A huge ask... and it's harder than you may think. I'm sceptical, because it feels like you want to gather a new audience and reboot yourself instead of doing the grand retirement - and i can tell you from experience the deeper and more authentic your writing, the tougher the crowd. And the day you start selling a course called 'being authentic' and 'staying true to yourself as a blogger' - I will call you out for it.

Penguins do that.
