How ironic that I've come to read this story when I'm around four pints in after a night at the theatre and pub with friends. I hope it doesn't make me too incoherent, but if it does then I apologise!
Inspiration is not the hard part of writing and pain is not the best fuel (in my opinion). Good writing comes from an attention to both craft and observation of the world around you. Pain is a good motivator to start writing, but only self-discipline will keep you in the chair day after day. Good writing takes practice and perseverance and a love of language - writing about pain can be addictive, but I don't recommend it because you'll burn out. Write often, write light and write when you feel the urge and never worry about what others think. That way you'll be writing here for a very long time.
And on that note.... Welcome to Medium! Looking forward to reading more of your work and having it pop up in my recommendations. Sorry for showing up to your wall under the influence, but y'know... Penguins gonna Peng. :o)
