I absolutely agree. I’m a liberal. I think people should be allowed to say what they like when they like. They should also be aware of the consequences of saying it. The consequences of demagoguery cut both ways though both on the left and right and when idiots are unchecked they make society more dangerous for everyone. A free society means just that. Free to say what you like and free to call out poorly formed arguments particularly if those have been monetised and placed into the hands of a small group of politically motivated individuals. Threats to liberty come from both the assertive right AND from a new brand of intolerant tolerance on the left. The fact that you agree with some of the leftist positions (as I do) means you should double efforts to see the other side. See my article ‘Nazis in Our classes’ for more discussion on why.
