I agree - but that's a different argument. Not being able to cut free from Russia isn't the same as being able to cut free from Putin. The West wasn't able to cut free from Germany - but it was able to cut free from Hitler and the Third Reich. That's my point really - the Russian people can still emerge victorious, arguably as the Germans did - it will just take a radical overhaul of their political system to bring it in line with the West - or they can become a vassal state of the Chinese empire, both are valid choices I think.
