I agree - the right wing has got terrifying and terrible echo chambers. The only way to keep people out of them is to bring the political Left back to the centre - there are moderates out there who held their nose and voted for Trump (and a lot of them) not because they're particularly caught up in the day-to-day politics of MAGA but because the left has became such an inhospitable place for any centrist to be. I'm a centrist, I can attest to that. It hasn't been easy for the last four years arguing the two main things I've been arguing in a predominantly left-wing echo chamber.

For reference those things were: 1) the left can't beat the right at identity politics given the demographics and should move to economic arguments as a way to mitigate against the white-working class vote (which usually gets me called a racist) and 2) making men the catch all villains through 'patriarchy' is not a vote winning strategy.

In both these cases, the issue here isn't that the arguments are wrong, just they are electorally disastrous. I am now suggesting there is great benefit to the political right in consistently throwing histrionics up the walls at everything Trumpian. You're not writing that - I actually enjoyed your 'meh, I hope you get what you voted for' approach. We already did Trump hysteria between 2016 and 2020 and it led to re-election of Trump.

The left should change strategy. And fast. :o)
