I agree these things cannot be stopped from progressing... but I'd argue that pushing identity politics (an inherently right-wing model about individual groups achieving more power) is not a viable way to do this. I think it's undermining progress overall.

I think you're right and Bernie would've been a better choice. America would've been a very different place after 4-years of equitable socialism but his branch of progression has been superseded by a greater emphasis on identity politics that much of the US demos rejects outright becuase of its extreme positions and problematic views around race.
