I agree. They are both actors - which is why I leaned in heavily on the witnesses - none of whom were. I suppose everyone is biased in one way or another, but that bias should be offset by using reasoning and listening closely to the evidence.
Both teams have brought witnesses to the stand to back up their claims - but Depp’s are stronger under cross. That’s a subjective opinion of course.
There seems to be a lack of evidence, both material and character to suggest that Depp is the violent monster Heard is suggesting he is. That doesn’t mean he’s not abusive, it doesn’t mean he’s a passive victim of a manipulative evil woman; but it does cast reasonable doubt on her veracity.
That, I suspect, was his intention. I’m not convinced he cares all that much about the money (and his legal team have implied as much) - I think he cares about the ongoing hyperbolic slander and the one-sided nature of his right to reply to accusations. Humans are hard wired to hate a lack of fairness.
The courtroom is fair. It isn’t pretty and I’m this case it’ll do neither of them any good in the long run…. But it’s fair.
