I agree. This was a Democrat battle to lose, and lost it they did. In spectacular fashion. The law does need to be brought back under a different ammendment because the 14th was useless - it's bad law and it was a politically motivated decision back in the 1970s that played havoc with the US system of checks and balances.
It is the poor women in Red states who will be paying the price for the complacency of wealthier women in the Blue ones - yet the majority of blue states are the ones staging demonstrations and running around like everyone has been shot. There is very much a disconnect between the liberal version of the world, which is theoretically right wing (but isn't) identity focussed and predominantly middle class, and the world as experienced by poor people, who are easily hijacked towards the right wing and Conservatism because the economic arguments have been abandoned by the left. It drives me nuts.
