I agree wholeheartedly - and the solution to this isn't to focus and quibble about specific instances of what constitutes privilege or not privilege. It's not to argue about the nature of privilege itself. The solution is to concentrate on bringing as many people out of poverty as possible in the most efficient way possible so that the disparity between privilege and non-privilege is reduced. This will have the knock on effect of reducing racism.
To summarise my whole position. The left is eating itself with middle class identity politics, turning off moderate voters with a lack of clarity around its messaging. It should instead be throwing itself behind an economic socialist model and stabilising a liberal democracy.
Identity politics isn't a left wing model. It feels left wing because it's adherents are convinced they're the 'goodies', but it's arguing for a redistribution of power and wealth into niche interest groups or into the hands of individuals. Money doesn't flow down to places where it is required, it swirls into the erudite middle classes and stays there. Racial tension has become very lucrative in recent years, on this platform and in the real world.
