I agree with all of this - and yes, I'm not convinced we need to be inspecting children's genitalia in the name of perceived fairness, it seems all kinds of creepy.
As you've identified though, top level athletics is a different thing - and though this wasn't top-level athletics a la the olympics, the participants are still competitive and serious about what they do. This is where the legislative gap seems to be - and where there seems to be an element of busking it.
But when you're talking about milliseconds or kilograms of difference between representing your country and getting sponsorship, these things matter. I hope we find a way forward and the science becomes more conclusive soon. Thanks for your thoughts and adding to the conversation- tis much appreciated. :o)
