I agree with all of this - with the exception of the differentiation between the woke and bigots. Bigotry is an inability to listen to what other people have to say - it's not a political allegiance. We must be very careful of assuming that everyone who disagrees with us is a bigot. They have to evidence an inability to listen first. There are plenty of people in political and social opposition to me who are capable of listening and defending their position - and there are plenty on my own side who can't listen at all.
As an example, any exchange between myself and Michael Kellogg is amicable and good natured, we disagree entirely on whether socialism is the solution to western democratic ills. I think it is, he thinks it will generate dependency on the state. He has a classic Republican perspective, mine is closer to the Democratic party. These discussions are interesting, involve discussion and thoughtful interjections from both sides and leave us both with something to think about. Then see what happened when I dared to question an LGBTQ+ ally and self proclaimed progressive called James . https://medium.com/lucid-nightmare/whack-a-woke-james-finn-special-86d6cb79aa11
