I agree with the issue you’ve outlined, but I disagree with the solution you’ve proposed. I cannot see how anti-racism takes people out of segregated boxes based on skin colour in the long run. It will have a short term positive effect, but I believe will ultimately feed the beast it’s trying to kill.
That doesn’t mean ‘not seeing colour’ as you’ve suggested– but seeing race the way we see height, as a spectrum rather than a binary. One where difference is acknowledged but doesn’t impact day to day thinking. Anti-racism doesn’t do this because it talks about individuals as part of homogenous groups that don’t exist. Different subjective directions of an anti-racist movement will allow those with a vested interest to throw the baby out with the bath water.
