I also believe in choice - but, as I highlighted in the reverse article, marriage is an institution steeped in the absence of choice. Indeed, elsewhere in the world there is a complete lack of choice and marriage remains a way to use women (and young girls) as a way of acquiring wealth or more prestige. This cannot be ignored just because the Western concept of marriage is now fine and dandy.

If you wouldn't want anything else then that is superb - that choice comes from a liberal idea of autonomy. Wouldn't you want the choice for your children too? And if you'd want it for your children, would you want it for everyone's children?

Choice and agency should be a right granted to all people. :o)
