I always felt that if Jessica Fletcher and the Dr from Diagnosis Murder ever got together, they'd turn into a murder power couple. Both of them took death into the community and stepped far beyond the bounds of their immediate employment.

Having said that, as someone who writes quite a bit, I also have to fight the urge to go out into the community, bludgeon some poor sod to death and then come back and solve the mystery. It's pragmatic procrastination at its best.
