I could afford very little - see my story about growing up working class at the poor end of British society. The industrial revolution wasn't much fun over here either. There's a tendency to see British people as all wealthy and middle class. That isn't true. I'll add 'Inglorious Empire' to my reading list. I won't say my knowledge about the English in India is particularly strong, but I am a keen amateur historian and will read most things - I will take notes and get back to you.

But at least then we're debating history and philosophy and not just screaming racial obscenities over the void.
