I didn't say British society did - the question is rhetorical and indicative of the direction of travel we should pick. I'm well aware of the nuanced intersections between race and class - I've worked in social care for over a decade.
There are writers, some on this platform, who take the position that race is the only thing worth talking about and all other aspects of privilege are a subsection of this. I think that's a fundamentally solipsistic approach to which the net response will be more racism.
You can call that an appeal to ignorance if you want - I'll call it the integrative moment of personal psychology and sociology.
