I disagree. As an adult, you inherit a country (admittedly by circumstance) to in which you have a genetic legacy. You then contribute to that society and you shape it through voting, through your ethos and your behaviour. The things I am ‘proud’ of are part of an ongoing situation which I continue to partake in through taxation and the social contract. This is, for want of a better word, Britishness.
