I do a two hour class on how to write a 10 minute play to the Five Act Structure. Exposition, escalation, climax, falling action, conclusion. Then the kids write a play and I come back a few weeks later with actors and a published copy of their play in book form. It's a great little workshop scheme.
Screenplays are somewhere between stage scripts and novels. They are pictures interspersed with dialogue.... enough to give someone a sense of what you're trying to paint in the audiences head. Prose is like doing the full picture.... and stage scripts are like doing a pencil drawing (usually just dialogue) screenplays are the space between - they're good fun to write :o)
