I do. I love finding new writers! I'm somewhat dubious that by the time I find some of them, they've already become capitalist shills and are writing furiously about how to be successfu on Mediuml. But there are some wonderful writers on this platform who I've seen grow from not-writers to full blown interesting indie-journalists.
Anthony Eichberger is the one that springs to mind, he started last April and rocked up with some interesting insights about farming and politics... since that point he's segued into political discussion (and you'll find me disagreeing with him all over the place). He's carved himself a follower count of 1.1K and done it the hard way and I have no doubt he's going to continue to write interesting and insightful pieces about sexuality and identity (amongst other things.)
I am very optimistic about new writers and the last year on the platform has been great for indie voices. The emergence of Steve QJ and Hogan Torah for example would've been unthinkable in the 2020 left-wing-faux-liberal-hijack. There's never been a better time to be a new writer on the platform, but people have never been more tempted to go in the wrong direction and seek financial validation.
