I do indeed have an ex-penguin of two years who was a narcissist with BPD and they caused untold chaos in my personal life and still do their best to bait me back into providing supply. Alas, I feel very sorry for them, but that section of my life is done, the mental turmoil is over and I have resumed normal function.

Teenagers are indeed a bit self-absorbed but only some of them will go full narcissist - and I also enjoy the mental jousting. I have worked with a few and I have a functional and pragmatic approach to keeping them at a distance.

There's nothing wrong with loving yourself - and often the problem with narcissists is they usually don't love themselves. They're incredibly insecure and what you're seeing is a false self and bravado, certainly with BPD, those people will change to be whatever it is that best fits you. It's YOUR love that buoys them up, to fill the void they cannot fill themselves.

Loving yourself is probably the best defence against narcissism there is. :o)
