I do indeed know that chart, and if you do a search for ‘the penguin political compass is complicated’ or something like that - you’ll see I’m a left-wing liberal bordering on libertarian.
What that means in practice is that I don’t want anyone dictating what others can and can’t do. I have no problems with trans-inclusion, but I also have no real problem with TERF objections. I will object to either group attempting to seize the apparatus of power to force the other side into their world view.
I think inclusion generally happens slowly, and I think a large part of the kickback on both sides here is the result of absolute and polemic thinking. Like there are goodies and baddies. The other sides are fascists but your own team is a bunch of freedom fighters.
Reality is rarely that simple.
I’m hopeful for inclusion, I’m resistant for inclusion at gunpoint. And when you read trans writers (as I do) - I often find myself as the single dissenting voice. These echo chambers are a problem. :o/
