I don't apologise for anything, because I'ma a Penguin and have been since I dipped out of identity politics in mid 2020 and I haven't confirmed or denied my age, sex, race or sexuality since. It's of secondary importance to what I have to say.
What I will say about this very interesting article is that race is a construct which allows people with a vested interest in sowing division to do so. The people oppressed under a capitalist system and a capitalist ideology are the poor - those people are disproportionately brown and black. This is a vestige of colonialism - but what identity politics has allowed people to do is put a new divide in.
That is around melanin levels. The right wing has a vested interest in convincing the middle class that the real enemy is liberalism - and faux-liberalism plays into this idea by insisting that skin colour is the primary indication of privilege. What you have in reality is a whole bunch of middle class brown people insisting that white people are the problem - classing it as 'whiteness' then confuses the matter further.
What we're really talking about is economic privilege, and what identity politics has done is split socialists from identarians and ensured the right wing can hijack the working class to vote against their own interests - because the middle class is too busy telling them they're all evil and making them apologise for micro-aggressions in San Francisco. The whole thing is a mess.
