I don’t doubt they are… but they’re adults (mostly). I am encouraged and pressured to do things all the time by various people. It is my choice whether or not I do them and I weigh up all the factors before making the decision.

The argument here is about accountability. I think it is down to the individual to make the best choices they can based on their knowledge and understanding of themselves, you think wider society and employers should make more allowances.

I agree in part and am pleased though discussions are likely to happen. In this instance though, I believe everyone has acted fairly. If she’s got the strength of character to pull out of the tournament part way through, she’s capable of saying no to entering in the first place. We can’t infantilise people, particularly not young women.
